Mission Statement
To further our petroleum engineering knowledge while connecting students with the industry, community, and their peers. EventsOU SPE works to enhance the technical, professional, and social skills of petroleum engineers (and those with petroleum related majors) at OU by holding several events throughout the school year:
General Meetings
General meetings consist of a brief announcements update, a technical or professional presentation by an oil and gas company, and conclude with a sponsored dinner. The meetings are a great way to learn about new technologies, discoveries, current events, and much more! If you really want to see what it is like to be a petroleum engineer, general meetings are a great place to look.
Philanthropic Events
OU SPE is one of the leading student organizations on campus in terms of philanthropy. We participate in/hold several events including blood drives with the American Red Cross, volunteering at the Second Chance animal shelter, MS 150, Big Event, and American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life just to name few.
Social Events
Social events give students a great chance to get to know their peers and professors in a relaxed environment. Some of our social activities include an annual crawfish boil, watch parties for OU sporting events, Buffalo Wild Wings outings, bowling, laser tag, and many more. All costs are usually covered for students so there is no reason not to come out!
Annual Technical Conference and Exhibits (ATCE)
ATCE is an annual conference hosted by our parent organization, SPE International, which displays innovative technology in the petroleum industry. Every year OU SPE takes students to the conference at little cost to the student. This is a great way to learn about new technologies, network with petroleum engineering students around the world, and get to know companies in the industry.
Additional Information If you would like to be on the SPE mailing list to receive information and updates, please use the contact form and give us your name, email address, and classification. In addition, you can check the calendar for upcoming events.
